Wine and…. Crayons?

by Farley

***This week’s theme: Crayola crayon colors*** I have to say, this is one of my favorite tasting menus I’ve written so far. It was a lot of fun to do. Though when I told Kenny G about it, he told me I was “out to lunch.” Ah, well. You decide!

Crayola crayonsComplimentary Tasting

2005 Roussanne, Santa Barbara, Appellation Series $18
A cross between apricot and goldenrod— which sometimes yields a spicy honey—
this wine also shows guava and peach

2006 Grenache, Rhodes Vineyard, Redwood Valley $25
Though this wine is not carnation pink, it does give floral notes of violets and lavender, along with black cherries and cinnamon

2005 Zinfandel, Snows Lake Vineyard, Lake County $35
The name change from Indian red to chestnut aptly colors the flavors
in this one, along with the nutmeg, figs, and raspberry jam

* Reserve Flight - $8.00 *
Complimentary to wine club members

2006 Zinfandel, Monte Rosso Reserve, Sonoma Valley $45
Bittersweet is how you’ll feel if you don’t stock up on these
flavors of cherry, red currant, mahogany, and burnt sienna

2005 Zinfandel, Cullinane Reserve, Sonoma Valley $45
Hints of white chocolate and plum dance over your tongue,
tickled by notes of menthol that are almost pine green

2005 Zinfandel, Annette’s Reserve, Redwood Valley $35
Like us, I’m sure you’ll find this wine to be mauvelous,
for its beautiful raspberry, blueberry, anise, and wild strawberry

2005 Petite Sirah, Pickett Road, Napa Valley $35
These purple mountains majesty will take you into the wild blue yonder
with smoked bacon, graphite, cedar, pepper, and blueberry
