Tiki Bar, Anyone?
The great thing about working at Rosenblum is that when we work very hard, we make up for it by playing very hard. Such was the case last night. In December, on a random Thursday, we had our busiest day ever. We even passed the famous Rockpile day. I wasn’t here for that, but I think it was after the 2003 Rockpile Road Zinfandel hit #3 on the Top 100, and calls poured in. (If I’m wrong, please feel free to leave a comment, as my memory has been known to fail me.)
Anyway, as a thank you to those of us in retail who were busting our butts that day, Kent and Kathy took us to the Forbidden Island Tiki Lounge right here in Alameda. (We didn’t even need to travel.)

We had a grand time with Banana-mama-cows and a Voodoo Priestess. Mai Tai, classic or island version. Monkey something-or-other and various drinks with names I can’t remember. Rums galore. And of course, Kathy with her margarita. We all shared sips to sample to the different concoctions, and they were all oh-so-tasty.
A fun time, as the bar always is, with its thatched roof booths and plethora of tiki paraphanelia. Quick service, with a smile, even with our loud and fast-drinking group. The bar was especially busy for a Thursday, partially because another big group who had been tasting at Rosenblum beat us there. But it was a grand time and fun to hang out with co-workers outside of work.
Have I mentioned I love my job???
