Television dreams nipped in the bud
I thought my time had finally arrived. My friend Paige told me that Food Network contacted her about wanting to put our wine videos (that are on both YouTube and Expert Village) on the FN website.
Imagine that. And trust me, I did. Visions of getting my own show focused on food and wine pairing, meeting my cooking idol Paula Deen, finding out if the very thin Italian (Giada?) actually eats what she cooks. Even the fact that someone there would want some thrown-together videos, whether it actually came to fruition or not…
Well, friends, don’t be looking for my show just yet. Apparently, it was Taste TV:the Indie Food Channel that did the asking. My question is, how could she get the two confused in the first place? I mean–Food Network! Didn’t she know about my no-longer-secret desire to have my own show there? What a tease.
And I haven’t really explored the channel because Expert Village owns the rights to our videos anyway. Though Paige is planning a visit soon, so we could always film some more. To practice, I think I’ll try out a new recipe tonight and pick some wine to go with it, then share the results.
Maybe there’s hope yet for my Food Network debut.
