Taste the Mountains:SCM Vintner’s Festival

This Vintner’s Festival is two weekends long, and I was so wrapped up in my own issues, the first one smacked me in the back of the head. We were super busy filling glasses, and everyone seemed to have a great time, so don’t be shy–join in.

Split up to cover the eastern side of the mountains last weekend and the western side this coming Saturday and Sunday, here’s the explanation from the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association:

Admission $30 in advance, $35 at the door.

Welcome to the 20th Annual Vintners’ Festival! This is a special opportunity to compare and taste a large number of premium wines in this world-class winegrowing region. 56 fabulous wineries at 44 unique locations will be featured over two weekends. Tickets will be redeemed for a commemorative wine glass at the event to be used at each winery visited. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at any participating location. The price is $30 in advance, or $35 the day of the event.

On the first weekend, June 2nd and 3rd, 40 wineries will participate at 17 locations in San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. On the second weekend, June 9th and 10th, 40 wineries will participate in 29 locations in Santa Cruz County. Festival hours are from 11am until 5pm all four days, with restaurant locations closing at 4pm. Special attractions vary and include barrel tastings, winery tours, new releases, live music, celebrity chefs, art displays, and more. It is also an excellent opportunity to purchase limited production wines at affordable prices.
