Have (wine) passport, will travel
Good news to those of you living anywhere from Santa Cruz all the way up to San Francisco. This Saturday is a Passport Day, sponsored by the Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association. And just what does that mean?, you might ask.
What it is:
-the passport allows you to taste wines at a majority of wineries in the S.C. Mts, some of which are only open on these special days
-some wineries wihtout tasting rooms pour at Vino Locale in Palo Alto and at Michaels on Main in Soquel
What else it gets you:
-discounts and/or waived corkage fees at restaurants such as Cafe Rouge in Los Gatos, Sent Sovi in Saratoga, Aldo’s in Santa Cruz, the two listed above, and more
When it happens:
-the third Saturday of January, April, July, & November
What it costs you:
-a mere $30, which waives the tasting fees at participating wineries
Where you can get one: call 831-685-VINE (8463) and some wineries have them for sale, though it might be best to call ahead and check
Other important details:
-never expires, so you can take your time traveling
-get a stamp from each winery (hence the passport concept)
-once the passport is full, turn in for a prize
Therefore, get out the map this weekend and taste some wine… at these great places

sounds like a nice event. I would love to go. Are you going to do a post on what wines go with the beloved turkey?

Tracey, yes, I will do that. Quickly, I suppose, so people can get shopping done ahead of time.
