Another book by a D.W.D. (darling wine diva)
While Jancis Robinson holds the place closest to my heart, Andrea Immer is another legendary woman in wine. Her Great Wine Made Simple is one of those wine books gets on lists and shelves, most likely because it helps make the mystique less mysterious.
However, I’d like to recommend Andrea Immer’s Wine Buying Guide for Everyone.

Not only is it compact enough to fit in a purse or even a back pocket, but you will want to put it in one of those places. You’re going to want to take it with you, whether you’re going out to eat or to the store to pick out a bottle for dinner or a gift.
Selling points:
*focuses on popular and readily available wines, thereby helping to avoid frustration of not being able to find what you read about
*does not focus on vintage, as most wines listed are fairly consistent year to year
*includes a bevy of best-of lists (based on categories such as taste, value, and popularity), including the wines you’re not drinking
*wine reviews are arranged from lightest to fuller-bodied varietals and the more common ones have handy analyses at the beginning of the section
*easy-to-understand symbols and ratings
*room for your own notes
***best of all, a guide to how long the wine will last once opened
Let this guide help take the guesswork out of your next wine journey.

Thanks for the review on Andrea Immer. I really enjoy watching her cable show and she kind of reminds me of cooler version of Martha Stewart (is that possible?!). I will have to check out that wine buying guide.
Side note: I’m going to the Le Village warehouse opening on Saturday. Are you planning to go?
Keep on rockin…
